ZD Krásná Hora nad Vltavou a.s.
The company is situated in a potato - oats producing region. The terrain is hilly with an average elevation of 450 m above sea level. Yearly average precipitation is approximately 500 mm and the average yearly temperature is 6.7 °C. The average price of farm land for taxation purposes is 3.4 CZK/m². The present farm lot originates from the unification of 9 smaller agricultural cooperatives, formed between 1956 and 1959. In 1977, a state farm (which had 500 ha) was annexed to the Krásná Hora Cooperative and in 1996, a part of the Vysoký Chlumec Cooperative (which had 320 ha) was annexed to the Krásná Hora Cooperative. Since January 1, 1998, the Krásná Hora Cooperative has been farming on 1100 ha agricultural land, acquired during the liquidation of A. C. Třebsko. On January 1, 2002, Krásná Hora Cooperative took over Svatý Jan Cooperative in the form of individual owners entering the cooperative, thereby increasing total acreage by 600 ha. On January 1, 2003 the type of ownership changed from cooperative to stock company. On January 1, 2005, Petrovice agricultural company A.C. merged into Krásná Hora nad Vltavou Cooperative A.C. and increased by 1,540 ha the total acreage. The company manages the property which is largely under long-term lease. The annual rent is 2000 CZK/ha for agricultural land. Since January 2000, the company has been buying land from individual owners with the help of the PGRF fund. From its conception, the company has been maximizing the use of EU agricultural programs.
