Livestock production
Livestock production, especially the breeding of dairy cattle, has been the cornerstone of our companyy for long time. Typically, 45 % of revenue from the company’s total annual turnover is generated by sales of milk and young breeding cattle. The sowing procedures and the year-round plant production are primarily subordinate to the production of a high-quality feed base for cattle, especially for dairy cows.
We breed about 4200 pieces of cattle, of which 1520 dairy cows (810 ČESTR, 710 Holstein) and about 400 pieces of meat cows.
During last 10 years, existing stables have been modified and reconstructed to match the modern requirements and welfare of the animals as much as possible. In 2010 a new milking parlor was opened in Krásná Hora and two years later on the farm in Petrovice.
Dairy cows in lactacion period are housed in reconstructed stables with boxes made by separated digestate. All production stables are equipped with fans, showers nad high capacity water jets.

Achieved performance is supported by the use of modern technologies for the detection of rhesus, monitoring of ruminal aktivity, health condition, heat stress and well-being in the herd.
For recording livestock data the software developed in the framework of the research task in cooperation with our company with Agrosoft Tábor, s.r.o. and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice is used. The systém is further linked to the central animal register.
Our company has been using EU support and subsidy programs in agriculture from the very beginning.
Czech fleckvieh cattle
Breeding in Krásná Hora has a long tradition, was recognized in 1985. Since this year, but also many years before the recognition, a number of breeding bulls have been produced, and then significant breeders of proven bulls on their daughters. Spring and autumn selection of mothers of bulls is taking place every year. In the long term, we have 50 – 60 mothers of bulls including pregnants.
Modern science and hence genomic testing are increasingly involved in breeding work. When selecting mothers of bulls and bullocks for breeding we look at he results of genomic tests. As a result of the use of genomic testing, there has been a decrease in the number of mothers of bulls and bullocks reared in breeding grounds, but the quality is increasing.
In the breed is worked with many singnificant families. This can bee seen not only on the production, but also on the longevity of dairy cows. At present, we are getting the average of 3 lactations, so it is possible to sell part of the heifers that are not needed for turnover. This is a significant contribution for the economy and also for breeding. As for the male part of the offspring, the fattening of the bulls is over. The numbers spoke in favor of change, so we switched to production and sales of bullocks, because of a great interest, so the prices are more than interesting.
There is a lot of work behind the high level of ČESTR breeded in Krásná Hora nad Vltavou. The fact that this herd is a balanced combination of beauty and production i salso evidenced by the success of local cows. We regularly take two or three exhibitions a year.
Meat cattle
With the breeding of meat cattle we started in 1996 by taking over the stable Vysoký Chlumec. We gradually extended it to the stables Obděnice, Skrýšov, Hojšín, Třebsko and Haklovy Dvory. At the beginning, the herd base was the cows and heifer of the ČESTR breed, which we admitted to the bulls of the Blonde d’Aquitaine.
With purebred breeding in performance control we started in 2001 using embryo-transfer and purchasing of heifers. In 2005 we imported 30 heifers of Blonde d’Aquitaine from France.
The main aktivity is production of cattle and heifers for slaughter. In pure breeding, where performance control of CSCHMS is performed, the main purpose is the sale of breeding heifers and breeding bulls.
Through the OPB we produce about 20 breeding bulls, which makes us one of the leading breeders in the Czech Republic.
